Motorized vehicles with two, three and four-wheels joined the Roseburg Elks Lodge for their 6th annual Poker Run for the Oregon Elks Children’s Eye Clinic on Saturday, June 2nd which was chaired and organized this year by Randi Kobernik and LaRae Viars. More than fifty participants enjoyed an all you can eat breakfast before drawing the first of seven cards and hitting the road for a hundred-mile jaunt around Douglas County.

Poker Run participants rode to and filled out their poker hand by drawing cards at the Winston Abby’s, Myrtle Creek Elks Lodge, Munchies in Glide, Magic Mushroom in Sutherlin, Hestness Landing, and back at the Roseburg Elks Lodge.  Once back, everyone enjoyed lunch and door prizes while the winning hands were being determined.  Cash prizes went to individuals with the high and low poker hands.  Drawings for raffle items generously donated by local businesses and individuals followed.  Participants and twenty elk member volunteers all enjoyed the Poker Run and the beautiful weather.

Nearly $600 was raised for the Elks Children’s Eye Clinic located on the Oregon Health and Science University (OHSU).  Elks Children’s Eye Clinic has the most diverse collections of pediatric eye specialists in our nation.  The clinic provides evaluations, diagnoses and the treatments of a broad range of eye conditions for individuals from babies to young adults. The Elks Children’s Eye Clinic also had a ground-breaking ceremony for a new building on the OHSU campus to meet the growing demand of needed services Saturday afternoon.  For more information go to Elks Children's Eye Clinic
